Norman Witthuhn, Interim Pastor

Dr. Witthuhn was born in Wheeling, WV, and was a member of First Christian Church where he was baptized and ordained. He attended Bethany College and graduated with an A.B. in Religion, and then from Lexington Theological Seminary where he graduated with a D.Min. in Pastoral Care. During his student years at Bethany, he served as youth director at Wellsburg Christian Church in Wellsburg, WV and as youth director at Monessan Christian Church in Monessan, PA. Until graduating from Bethany, he also did supply preaching in WV, PA and OH. Additional education was Radford University in Radford, VA with a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction, Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, OH where he earned a certificate in PC Networking and a certificate in Para Legal Training, and finally accounting course except for auditing toward an accounting certificate.

He has served churches, during school time and full time, in WV, PA, OH, IN, IL, KY, VA, Capital Area and AL. He has also been a school bus driver, hospital orderly, Nationally Certified EMT and Certified Teacher. While serving churches, he taught math for 1 ½ years in the classroom, 2 years substitute teaching, and for 4 years online through Educate Online. He worked 8 years as an institutional chaplain with juvenile delinquents.

He is married to Mary Jo Witthuhn (nee Tidd) from Wellsburg, and has 2 daughters Beth (Minister at Disciples Christian Church in Boardman, OH) and Jennifer (Accountant with Sunrise Senior Living in McLean, VA). To round out the family he has 2 grandsons, Asheron and Dante.

Rev Witthuhn has been a stamp collector, and has a keen interest in Genealogy, and loves to travel with notable excursions during retirement to the Grand Canyon, New England/Canada Cruise and Alaska Cruise. During working years, he has traveled to Portland, OR and Ashville, NC and New Orleans, LA and Des Moines, IA. Many trips have been made to Niagara Falls.
